Q: What does Orenda use to sweeten Okī?
A: Because it is generally recognized as a natural and low-glycemic sweetener, Orenda uses Organic Agave Nectar to sweeten Okī rather than fructose-enriched corn syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, or other sugars which typically don’t mix well with people who have blood sugar concerns.
Q: Is Okī Organic?
A: When possible Orenda uses Organic ingredients in Okī. New laws state that only “certified organic” products can use the term “organic” on the labeling. All of the farmers who grow under organic conditions must go through a long, difficult and expensive process to become “certified organic” and to many of them this is simply too expensive. In the case of Aronia, since the berry naturally has no pests and therefore doesn’t need to be treated with pesticides, herbicides or insecticides, farmers note that there actually is no material advantage to paying for the certification when all Aronia can be grown with these minimalist, sustainable methods.
Q: How much Okī should I take at once?
A: Please read our label for our suggested daily minimum dosage.
Q: What is the shelf life of Okī?
A: Every bottle of Okī is date-stamped with it’s “Best By” date. Drink it before then. Once opened, Okī must be refrigerated and should be consumed within 30 days.
Q: When is the best time to drink Okī?
A: Okī is great any time of day! Many drink it in the morning to start their day with energy. Some take it to the gym while they work out. Others enjoy another glass in the evening as they unwind from a long day.
Q: Does Okī contain any artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors?
A: No.
Q: Is Okī gluten free?
A: Yes.
Q: How does Orenda verify the quality of Okī?
A: Okī is manufactured according to rigid Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards. It begins with raw material analysis and ends with final product inspection and testing. Every phase of production is carefully performed and tracked through the manufacturing process. Every batch receives full-spectrum microbiological testing before being released for public consumption.
Q: What preservative is used in Okī?
A: Orenda uses very small amounts of preservatives to help maintain the product’s freshness. Sodium benzoate, the sodium salt of benzoic acid, can prevent the growth of almost all microorganisms (e.g., yeast, bacteria, and fungi). Benzoic acid is found naturally in tea, anise, most berries, cultured dairy products and cheese, cherry bark, and cassia bark. Potassium sorbate is a potassium salt version of sorbic acid, a polyunsaturated fat used to inhibit mold growth. Sorbic acid has been repeatedly tested for safety and efficacy, and today stands as one of the most thoroughly tested food additives in history.
Q: Why does Orenda bottle Okī in glass instead of plastic?
A: There are several good reasons. First, glass is impermeable and nonporous. During storage and transit, it safeguards Okī from the loss of moisture, product strength, freshness and aroma.
The second reason is tied to Orenda's concern for the community. Glass is 100% recyclable. It generates no waste by-products, and the use of recycled glass is actually more efficient for glass manufacturers, so they are eager and willing to take this step to protect the community and the environment.
